Speaker 1 00:00:02 A mans to the 50, 50 Spanglish podcast. This is your host, Jesse.
Speaker 2 00:00:07 And this is Jessica
Speaker 1 00:00:08 Pesto. We are doing a quick little recap on this album almost.
Speaker 2 00:00:12 Yeah. What happened?
Speaker 1 00:00:14 The long story?
Speaker 2 00:00:15 <laugh>
Speaker 1 00:00:15 It's mostly my fault.
Speaker 2 00:00:18 Uh, a hundred percent.
Speaker 1 00:00:19 Oh, listen, more
Speaker 2 00:00:19 Coming up
Speaker 1 00:00:31 And welcome back. Fidos to the 50, 50, uh, Spanglish podcast. This is your host, Jesse.
Speaker 2 00:00:37 And just this, Jessica,
Speaker 1 00:00:38 What is his length?
Speaker 2 00:00:39 Abido I forgot my own name. I was like, man, where am
Speaker 1 00:00:42 I? Okay. Elephant in the room. We're a little rusty to this. Um, not for any bad reason whatsoever. It's done. Like I stopped loving podcasts and see mm-hmm <affirmative> Beto. It's been a year. It has been absolutely
Speaker 2 00:00:56 Almost gonna be a year that we jumped off the wagon. Well, you jumped off the wagon. I was on, it was like, wait
Speaker 1 00:01:06 Now to be clear, we faded once again, this one was for a good reason. You think? I think it was a better reason than has pod fade. Okay. Last pod fade. Like, oh, you know, like, like I'm teaching and the students come first. You don't show,
Speaker 2 00:01:24 Well, we do have other jobs.
Speaker 1 00:01:26 Yeah. Like we were full time in all other
Speaker 2 00:01:28 Aspects. Same.
Speaker 1 00:01:30 And this pod fade was more of like, you know, like for little quick, you know, recap on them. But so COVID shortly after it's gonna case. All right, cool. I'm gonna go full
Speaker 2 00:01:40 Remote
Speaker 1 00:01:41 Entrepreneur. Mm-hmm <affirmative> <affirmative> into that. And then
Speaker 2 00:01:44 During a, the beginning of a pandemic. Yeah, yeah,
Speaker 1 00:01:47 Yeah. You know, during financial uncertainty asking now seems like a good time. Same. So, and I wanted to do is somewhere run alongs of podcasting, but I Quin you and I were not gonna survive financially editing $5 episode.
Speaker 2 00:02:03 Yeah. <laugh> so
Speaker 1 00:02:05 It's hard, you know, I've learned it. It's hard to compete. They like Colombia, Y they like charge pennies mm-hmm <affirmative> so I had to figure something else out.
Speaker 2 00:02:14 Yeah. And clearly I wasn't gonna podcast by myself. Mm-hmm
Speaker 1 00:02:17 Mm-hmm as
Speaker 2 00:02:19 Nobody, just
Speaker 1 00:02:20 Way putting bread on the table. Yeah. You know, so it was all around podcasting. I just had to learn how to actually turn it into a business mm-hmm <affirmative> versus just like, you know,
Speaker 2 00:02:32 A hobby, a hobby <laugh>
Speaker 1 00:02:36 Exactly. And speaking of business, I gotta give a quick shout out to our sponsors, the 50, 50 media, ah, man, these guys, these guys came me clutch last year. Let me tell you
Speaker 2 00:02:44 Top of the top of the, what's the word top of the line, top of the line of the crim
Speaker 1 00:02:48 Uhhuh. Yeah. They really came in clutch. And for those who don't know, 50, 50 media that's us, you know, like, uh, we had to figure this out, how to make it into the business. And that was the biggest learning curve. So 50, 50 media gas. Last time we talked about this sponsor as embassy.
Speaker 2 00:03:06 Yeah.
Speaker 1 00:03:06 Not anymore. No. Now we specify on one thing. One thing only, um, you know, which is podcast launching services. Mm-hmm <affirmative> so if you have a business and you're thinking how to engage with your clients and how to like, you know, grow, grow that business. Yeah. What better way of doing it with the podcast? I see. You're liking what you're hearing so far. You're thinking, man, how do, where do I even start?
Speaker 2 00:03:28 We can help.
Speaker 1 00:03:29 Yeah. Talk to us. I see it. Thanks for the 50, 50 media. We're sponsoring this
Speaker 2 00:03:33 Stop clapping. <laugh> okay.
Speaker 1 00:03:36 No. Yeah. So, you know, fast forward, I guess the year now, here, here we are back into it, but I did wanna do a little recap. So we're gonna go back in time again.
Speaker 2 00:03:45 Oh gosh. Okay. Okay.
Speaker 1 00:03:48 So Jessica and I decide to, well, mostly me, Jessica supported me, you know? Yeah. I do have to say that you you've been a huge support and this is in indeed. And, and the biggest has been like you just sitting there and like watching me go nuts.
Speaker 2 00:04:02 Mm-hmm <affirmative>, <laugh> I'm trying to help you not catch on fire Uhhuh, but you smoke a lot
Speaker 1 00:04:10 Like figuratively.
Speaker 2 00:04:11 Yes. See, yeah. I can see the fumes coming outta you
Speaker 1 00:04:15 Outta context.
Speaker 2 00:04:17 I know like,
Speaker 1 00:04:20 Yeah. You're trying to keep everything from burning up into flames Uhhuh, but I like to play with matches.
Speaker 2 00:04:25 See? Yeah. Mm-hmm <affirmative>
Speaker 1 00:04:27 Mm-hmm but you've been great in this respecto okay. Like, I really do appreciate that. Like, I mean, like we're gonna do this <inaudible>
Speaker 2 00:04:35 Yeah. And
Speaker 1 00:04:37 Fun fact. I was trying to learn how to run and manage a business while at the same time, learning about how to learn and manage and run myself. Yeah. You know, she's a team of one mm-hmm <affirmative> and she's her own manager,
Speaker 2 00:04:53 But she's not easy to manage. Yeah. She's
Speaker 1 00:04:56 Difficult. She's difficult to manage. Yeah. And that's me, in a nutshell, mm-hmm <affirmative> I had to learn to like manage my ADHD and all the other diagnosis that come with it. And at the same time, try to manage a business. And it was a lot of shiny object syndrome. It was a lot of like, you know, Ooh, this looks good. Oh, let me try this. Mm-hmm <affirmative> a lot of trial and error.
Speaker 2 00:05:16 Same.
Speaker 1 00:05:17 I see. Yeah.
Speaker 2 00:05:18 That's what we've been up to.
Speaker 1 00:05:20 That's what we've been up
Speaker 2 00:05:21 To, to find tuning our business, our lives, um, our health, <laugh> our mental health.
Speaker 1 00:05:29 That being that being said, though, I'll be, I'll be, I'll be perfectly honest. Mm-hmm <affirmative> Tita. The business is not making as much money as when you and I were working in our own respective jobs, myself as an educator or in college.
Speaker 2 00:05:40 But we're rich. In other ways
Speaker 1 00:05:43 I would not trade this.
Speaker 2 00:05:44 No, me neither.
Speaker 1 00:05:45 I do not trade this. I miss the students per se. I miss the day to day going Uhhuh. But I do not miss teaching. Yeah. I do not miss being stuck in one
Speaker 2 00:05:56 Place. I don't miss, uh, nine to five mm-hmm even though I worked part-time so like Boohoo me. Right. But I don't, I don't miss, uh, uh, having a boss. Mm. We are our own bosses and we make our own schedules and we work as hard or as little as we want in a day, I'm just saying like, and we can feed ourselves and our dogs, then we're, we're fine. We will figure it out. We're okay. We can continue to have these like creative outlet as a job.
Speaker 1 00:06:32 And, and it's been, it's been such a nice experience that just being able to, to know the, um, we'll be working in our own terms and yes, we're figuring it out. And yes, it took me like, you know, a while just to even figure out what that niche will be. Mm-hmm <affirmative> be, we haven't gone hungry.
Speaker 2 00:06:50 No.
Speaker 1 00:06:52 Yeah. We, we we've, we've done. We've been okay. Yeah. And while we figure it out, we knew we save some money for this, for this startup. And so far the biggest thing that I've enjoyed mm-hmm <affirmative> has been that freedom, that Liberty, that idea,
Speaker 2 00:07:07 Although, what do you think about that TikTok? That's like, oh, left my nine to five to start my own business. Now I work 24 7. That
Speaker 1 00:07:13 Can be that, that can be a very, like, it's gonna be a very true thing. Mm-hmm <affirmative>, you know what, almost like uncle gay was difficult to scale. That's why we didn't wanna do merch. That's why we didn't wanna do ads. That's why we didn't wanna do any of that. Yeah, no, we wanna do it in a way that Como a living in a way that also allows us to have that flexibility that we want.
Speaker 2 00:07:33 I think we're just we're we we've always prioritized our, and, and our time now with everything that has happened, people are realizing that that's the best way to live. Yeah. To take advantage of not nonconventional jobs that are allowing us to a better quality of life, even though we might not have the most luxurious things right now, or maybe ever, but we've always prioritized our peace, our peace, and the flexibility to do what we wanna do with our time in pay paycheck, to paycheck, without feeling any type of quality of life. Cause we can live paycheck to paycheck. We have. Right. Mm-hmm <affirmative> but we're happy <laugh> And a lot of people don't have that. So that's really cool.
Speaker 1 00:08:34 It is. It, it really is. You know, and again, like, you know, I know that I come from being a teacher, you knows come, okay. Like being a, teacher's not know wasn't fulfilling in many aspects. It, it was Beto ES even when we wouldn't work like a crazy amount of times, cause moon, I was just looking for some clients, you know, I would work my eight hours to <inaudible> and just being at home was different, same working eight hours at eight time home, you know, in my own pace, like take a break in between doing this, doing that is vastly different than being stuck at eight hours at any given time. IBM flex. And that I wouldn't trade mu baby. Like, like we wake up and we're like, <foreign>, <laugh> like a city, wait today's Monday. Really? Like, it doesn't feel like a Monday.
Speaker 2 00:09:24 Yeah. Sometimes like <foreign> feel like our weekend.
Speaker 1 00:09:29 Yeah. Which is kind of cool. We don't means that you and I don't have to have that little awkward conversation stuff. Oh. Someone has the case of Mondays, you know, like yeah.
Speaker 2 00:09:38 Or finally Friday. Oh
Speaker 1 00:09:39 My God. It's almost Friday. It's like, because if it kinda, the days kinda started meshing in
Speaker 2 00:09:47 On the weekend mm-hmm <affirmative> like family members, like, why are you working on a weekend?
Speaker 1 00:09:56 Like,
Speaker 2 00:09:57 You know, we, we are chill. Like it's, it's, it's great. And I love it.
Speaker 1 00:10:02 Now that being said, that's where the two edge sword comes because when you're chill, mm-hmm <affirmative> for me being chill and having a routine is the FEI. Yeah. And I know that part of it's because of my ADHD and it's been hard to kinda even get to terms with that. Like just allowing myself to know that was difficult for me
Speaker 2 00:10:26 And I'm backwards. Yeah. I feel like I needed to learn how to be chill because I'm so structured. Mm-hmm <affirmative> and when I left my job, I was like, this is, this is, is, is rogue <laugh>. Yeah. Like I don't have to wake up at a certain time. Exactly. But I was still waking up like I, this even earlier.
Speaker 1 00:10:46 Yeah. That's a good point
Speaker 2 00:10:47 Because I was like, I have all this time now and I can do all these things, but I had to learn how to chill. I would talk to people and I'm like, I'm always cleaning, you know? But it's like, really? Like I could do that later. Mm-hmm <affirmative>, you know, I don't have to be like, no, because, or because, so I had to clean everything and leave everything at Alado and now I'm just kind of like, I space things out. I don't, we, we live here, you know, like we live here now and there's wear and tear in that's like I'm and then, but because I'm, I'm so structured, like I do do it. I'm just more chill mm-hmm
Speaker 1 00:11:29 <affirmative> yeah, no, I, I get it a hundred percent and it was funny because almost, you know, finally like, uh, on our own, in a sense that, cause I was working with contract and I'll get, and I'll touch that in a little bit, you know, with the companies that I was working with as a contractor Uhhuh, but essentially remote. It was so interesting. The biggest thing that I had to learn was okay. You
Speaker 2 00:11:53 Like abused your chill. Ah,
Speaker 1 00:11:55 See, I had a, I quickly realized, okay, no, I need to find a routine ASAP. So you only think when I'm morning routine, like I don't get anything done.
Speaker 2 00:12:02 That's the ADHD life guys.
Speaker 1 00:12:03 Mm-hmm <affirmative> yeah, it sure is. You know, which led to, you know, the contracting jobs. Cause Staci though, because when we went, you know, entrepreneurial and started making this a business Quinta, how do I market my services? Same. How do I let people know that I'm available to help? You know? And that's where I started leading into how do I do marketing? And that's where I run into like, you know, companies such as like will Billy Wilson and Wilson media and started meeting some of the guys that I met there with Josh and Billy and, you know, mats, Yvonne super cool people. And those were some of the pictures that we even posted at one point when we were in, um, in Cancun, we were in, um,
Speaker 2 00:12:38 We ended up going to Cancun. Yeah.
Speaker 1 00:12:40 You know, and that was, that was a really cool experience. Mm-hmm <affirmative> and it was nice not having to ask
Speaker 2 00:12:45 For it was a work, a working
Speaker 1 00:12:46 Event. Yeah. It wasn't working event. So it was nice to kind of have like that work balance even within those days as well. So that was cool.
Speaker 2 00:12:56 It was fun. <laugh>
Speaker 1 00:12:57 Well, yeah, I learned a lot there. That's where I learned like, okay, this is how he does it. He's an entrepreneur. He runs his own business. Mm-hmm <affirmative> and that's how he has structure. Okay.
Speaker 2 00:13:06 I feel like they're ahead of the, of the game here. So it's kind of nice that you got to experience that and mm-hmm, <affirmative> apply it to our business. Yeah.
Speaker 1 00:13:13 I took, I took a lot of them. So shout out to Billy, shout out to Josh. I really did learn a lot from them and other people came up and the moon, you know, from Rob, Kevin and Frank at the sales agency S for, for a while mm-hmm <affirmative> and you know, I, I really learned how to just prospect qualify and, and find business E we just, that was the game changer that I needed, essentially.
Speaker 2 00:13:34 Exactly.
Speaker 1 00:13:35 So,
Speaker 2 00:13:36 So here we are,
Speaker 1 00:13:36 Here we are. We did all of that. You know, we've learned how to survive with our own self-employment so now it seems fitting that. Okay, great. Let's let's go back to this creative outlet, which is the podcast. And if you're wondering, okay, why, why couldn't you guys just do both of this? You know, if you're essentially,
Speaker 2 00:13:54 I dare you to do it and yeah.
Speaker 1 00:13:55 You're more chill, you know, but like you didn't have time
Speaker 2 00:14:00 Or, or people have, um, teams. Yeah. Right. This is just you and I, and I literally just sit here and talk, like, I don't do anything else. Yeah.
Speaker 1 00:14:08 Like when I started getting clients for,
Speaker 2 00:14:10 For the podcast.
Speaker 1 00:14:11 Yeah. Like when I started getting clients, like I was still doing podcast stuff. It's just that I was doing it for other people now. Yeah. You know, like, like, you know, we're doing it for P editing for other people podcast launching for other clients, you know, content for other folks consulting. And it's just, no, yeah. Now I feel like I have more of a balance. And again, you know, that, that balance is that okay. It took, did it take longer for now? I would've hoped for, yes it did, but I'm not gonna sit here and beat myself up for it. You know? So that's a little recap, you know, that's, that's, that's what we have been doing then. Yeah. And now that we're back to
Speaker 2 00:14:49 Our, so like not in OSA, I'm hoping everybody caught up, you guys heard all this episode. Exactly. We have had people DM us and text us, or reach out to us asking when we're gonna, um, post new content. So I'm hoping you guys are excited and are gonna jump back on the, on the, uh, episodes with us E for some weird reason, like our Instagram hasn't gone down on followers, which I thought it would, because you know, like you kind of abandoned
Speaker 1 00:15:18 Lose,
Speaker 2 00:15:19 Lose momentum. No. Yeah, yeah. But we have had significant followers consistent. The numbers are there and I'm hoping that once we post this, it'll just be like, like that friend, once you do, it's like, we just pick up where we left off.
Speaker 1 00:15:39 Yeah. A hundred percent
Speaker 2 00:15:41 That it feels like that
Speaker 1 00:15:42 It does. And I think another reason why our numbers on Instagram didn't go down and actually started going up is cuz again, ASAB almost in the industry. We were networking, meeting them, people,
Speaker 2 00:15:52 Traveling,
Speaker 1 00:15:53 Traveling, you know, which
Speaker 2 00:15:54 We'll talk about later.
Speaker 1 00:15:55 Yeah. We'll talk about the Cancoon trips. You know, the other trips, the Ireland trips, you know, Bastan I, I did just wanna give a little recap that we're alive in
Speaker 2 00:16:04 Barely, but Casa.
Speaker 1 00:16:05 Yeah.
Speaker 2 00:16:06 You had another life. I had another near death experience.
Speaker 1 00:16:09 Yeah. That, that was fun. Yeah.
Speaker 2 00:16:12 Became a widow at 29. Yeah.
Speaker 1 00:16:14 That was,
Speaker 2 00:16:14 That was, but I am now 30 and we're here.
Speaker 1 00:16:17 <laugh> we're not gonna like, I mean like that, that one's not much. Well, it is a story in itself. It'll yeah. Like long story short, like my appendix decided to die. Yeah. And nobody believed me first. Yeah. The doctor thought that I was like the boy cry Wolf. You mean? Yeah. No, just like,
Speaker 2 00:16:34 You're just a chubby kid who ate too much pizza Uhhuh.
Speaker 1 00:16:37 Like you have gas LOL L O L. Yeah. And I'm like, no, you guys like this really feels bad. And a week hold a whole week passed. And finally, Jessica and I were just taking matters into our own hands. And as soon as I get a fever, we're gonna go to the ER and we're gonna fixes ourselves. Mm-hmm <affirmative> and that's what we did. I got a 1 0 2 fever a week after those doctors, they didn't even wanna test me. I have insurance, I have coverage and they didn't wanna test me because ATO, they are gods.
Speaker 2 00:17:12 Anyways, are we going into this
Speaker 1 00:17:13 Anyways? Anyways. Oh, okay.
Speaker 2 00:17:15 Anyways, I thought we were organization story anyways.
Speaker 1 00:17:18 Okay. Anyways.
Speaker 2 00:17:19 So they continue, you know,
Speaker 1 00:17:21 Uh, slave people. Yeah. Slave people and, and we'll go, <laugh> we'll call into
Speaker 2 00:17:25 That. That would've been really awkward. Like,
Speaker 1 00:17:27 Like an episode. It like,
Speaker 2 00:17:29 No. Oh, what do you mean? But like maybe like a month or two, what? Without posting a podcast. And when that happened. Oh,
Speaker 1 00:17:37 That's
Speaker 2 00:17:37 Right. Um, so it would've been really like weird, you know, to just be like, well, this is done guys. Cuz I, I wouldn't do this. <laugh>
Speaker 1 00:17:45 Would you give a final goodbye episode? No, do
Speaker 2 00:17:49 That. No. No. Okay. I don't owe them anything.
Speaker 1 00:17:51 That's right. We don't owe you nothing. I have really, you know who you are.
Speaker 2 00:17:55 I have really good boundaries when it comes to things like this or, or for some people might think that I am too reserv. I should say it's boundaries and it's healthy.
Speaker 1 00:18:03 But, but there you go. Yeah. And I light, which is, you know, keep on living and live
Speaker 2 00:18:13 With and travel that's right. And have fun while you're still alive.
Speaker 1 00:18:15 I was still alive.
Speaker 2 00:18:17 Yeah. You went into Yolo mode for a little bit. Did
Speaker 1 00:18:20 <laugh>
Speaker 3 00:18:21 I did
Speaker 1 00:18:23 Beto. We are back baby. Do not call it a comeback. We never went anywhere. We just, you know, took a little bit of a sight step and, but we're here. We are gonna pick it right back up. I see if you guys are, you know, um, excited having us back as much as we are excited to be back, let us know in the comments, uh, feel free to let us know what other episodes we wanna talk about. We have a lot of content that's been actually planned what?
Speaker 2 00:18:43 Wow.
Speaker 1 00:18:44 Free planned content, hold
Speaker 2 00:18:46 Jesse accountable. We're gonna be posting every
Speaker 1 00:18:48 Week. And, and once again, everybody thank y'all for listening to
Speaker 2 00:18:52 The 50 50.
Speaker 1 00:18:56 And that was it for our comeback episode. Even though I told myself to not call it a comeback, but it wasn't even on our comeback episode of the 50 50, we did it. We did it.
Speaker 2 00:19:04 We did
Speaker 1 00:19:04 It hip Fresno sample did it because I thought that we're gonna be too rusty. Be I almost forgot how much I love being in front of a microphone. It just, is that the word? That, the word? What? How do you say that?
Speaker 2 00:19:23 Do you like light up? You spark that
Speaker 1 00:19:24 Up. I light up. Yeah. That's my sparkle. That's right. Yeah. You know, thank you for helping me getting that cheesy moment. Yeah. No. Okay. Dude, what do we say in outros?
Speaker 2 00:19:39 Eh, this is for like the people who stick around.
Speaker 1 00:19:41 Oh, that's right. Yeah. And we like, oh
Speaker 2 00:19:43 Guys, hi.
Speaker 1 00:19:44 Hi, come. We we're, you know, we were gone for a little, you said
Speaker 2 00:19:47 You weren't gonna go into your whole like appendix bursting. And then you like flat out that the whole story
Speaker 1 00:19:53 Basically. Well, you know, that's me with ADHD, but like, that's just my sparkle. Speaking of sparkle, I wanna give a shout out to our sponsor, the 50, 50 media. Uh, if you have a business and you are trying to launch a podcast in OSA, we can help you from a to Z. We do complete podcast, launching services. Biggest thing I've learned is Khe said, oh, I just need help with, and I didn't ask them. All right. Cool. Do you have, um, episodes written out? Do
Speaker 2 00:20:16 You have a name?
Speaker 1 00:20:16 No. Like you have a name? No. Do you have a logo? No. Do you know what microphones you're using? No. Sounds like you need more than just entity.
Speaker 2 00:20:21 Some people just have like the passion and the, and the topic Uhhuh and the, and the fan base. Like they have already like a following or like a business. And then there's people who have nothing. Yeah. Like they just wanna start out and they're just like, I know that I wanna do this, but I don't know where to start. And then there's people who are obviously more established. Yeah. But they just lack some of the tech, tech support
Speaker 1 00:20:45 Or even the support they have us behind.
Speaker 2 00:20:47 So that's why we offer free consultations for our website was the website,
Speaker 1 00:20:50 The 50 fifty.com, St H E dash five F I F T y.com allow us to help you. I got really good at helping out my clients. So look annoy it with our podcast, you know, which is, you know, taking that podcast. Fade have been able to do it with them. And I've been really thankful. That's just, I, everybody who has trusted me right with this project. So again, that's their sponsors, the 50, 50 media EPOS. That's it. I'm ready for next week. Lisa, Lisa, Lisa, all cables, everybody. Thank you all for listening too. The
